Proof of Miracles

About two months ago, I was selected to be the keynote speaker for Nationwide Financial's Leaders Summit, 200 of their front-line leaders (including the President of the company) were going to be in attendance! Recognizing how special this opportunity was, I spent two months preparing and rehearsing.

The day finally came to give my speech which covered my background, unorthodox success system, and personal beliefs with an emphasis on doing good in the community....all resting on my professional credentials and personal stories that I hoped would carry enough weight to support my points. After, FORTY, nerve racking minutes of me talking (I don't usually do public speaking for so long in front of such a large distinguished audience), I had time to take questions.

The very first "question" (or so I thought) came from a lady who stood up and said, "I don't have a question, but more of a story...". As I listened to her, I didn't know what to expect, because I had no idea who she was and what she was about to share.

She went on to say "four years ago, my now husband was involved in a serious car accident, and his car landed upside down....this man stopped and pulled my husband out of his wrecked car...I've never met you, but knew your name (Laith)...I just texted my husband and confirmed that it was you that pulled him out from the wreck and I appreciate you speaking to us today and a chance to finally meet you". Once it dawned on me who she was talking about, I lost it, I cried because it was something so long ago and something I never really brought up.

Four years ago, I was driving to my office from a breakfast meeting, got lost, and ended up at the right place and time to see a car flip mid-air from an impact with a truck that ran a red light. All I remember was pulling over and running to the wreck, trying to pry open the door (unsuccessfully) then crawling through the half crushed window of the upside down car, I thought I smelled gasoline and needed to get the unconscious driver out quickly which I was able to do through the window. He was bleeding from his face so I was wiping the blood with my bare hands so it wouldn't go into his eyes (not realizing that my hands were bleeding too from the broken glass trying to pull open the door and eventually crawling to get him out).

The paramedics arrived and took the injured driver to the Riverside Hospital, I gave my info to the police and simply headed to my office only there did I realize my suit was splattered with blood and there was glass embedded in my hands. I then got a call from the police telling me that it would be a good idea for me to go to the hospital to get tested since there was blood contamination between me and the driver. So I headed there, waited for the results, met the driver and his parents who asked to meet me...went home and that was the end of that. I didn't really bring up the incident, it's not something I felt like I should bring up.

Fast forward to Thursday 10/12/2017... Alysson, the driver's wife, took the brave step to stand up in front of the large crowd and share the story which was a miracle to me. She embodied "karma", which came back at a time I least expected but most appreciated!

I asked permission to share this story from Joey (driver) and wife Alysson, because sometimes it's hard to come across PROOF of karma and how God works...and I believe that what Alysson did showed me that it-does-in-fact exist and that good deeds will come back in spades....I wanted to share this story as further proof that we need to take care of each other, do good, and not keep score or expect anything in return, because a "higher-power" is...and will bring it back in unimaginably amazing ways.
