Millennials Setting the Stage
What an inspirational event at THE Ohio State University featuring the Fisher College of Business Cohort Honors Students I mentor under the leadership of the amazing program director Ty Shepfer. The students were tasked with creating projects (and in some cases create actual non-profit entities) that make an impact in our community. The students took on the “Impact Challenge” in addition to their rigorous honors educational program, work, and internships. Today they presented their projects over the past year, and I couldn’t be more proud of the passion and hard work they put into each cause. The summary of each project: Students going to nursing homes and engaging and interacting with the elderly. Creating a fascinating website/donation system. Teaching a customized wellness curriculum to high school students. Finally, helping kids that have been in detention centers/jail get their lives on track!
I think millenials get unfairly branded as “entitled” and other selfish characteristics. I would argue that if you were to only see all the passion and selflessness that these students poured into making a difference in the lives of others you would reconsider this unfair label and have more faith in our future leaders...because they truly are our future and if tonight is any indication, it is truly a bright one we are helping cultivate.
I couldn’t be more proud of the Cohort Honors Students and so privileged to be working alongside the program director Ty Shepfer.
